1. Composition of Alanboss XL 10mg
- Active ingredient: alfuzosin hydrochloride 10mg.
- Excipients: sufficient for 1 tablet
2. Indications for Alanboss XL 10mg
Alanboss XL 10mg is recommended for the treatment of functional symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (increased volume).
Alanboss XL 10mg is also used as adjunctive therapy in cases of acute urinary retention requiring urinary catheterization due to benign prostatic hyperplasia.
3. Dosage and administration of Alanboss XL 10mg
Route of administration: oral.
Dosage: 1 tablet/day, take Alanboss XL 10mg immediately after the evening meal.
Administration:
Swallow Alanboss XL 10mg tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, break, or crush into powder.
In cases of urinary catheterization, Alanboss XL 10mg should be used from the first day of catheterization and treated with Alanboss XL 10mg for 3 to 4 days, meaning taking the medication during the period of urinary catheterization for 2 to 3 days and 1 day after catheter removal.
If you feel that the effect of Alanboss XL 10mg prolonged-release tablet is too strong or too weak, inform your doctor or pharmacist.
If you forget to take Alanboss XL 10mg prolonged-release tablet: do not double the recommended dose to make up for the missed dose.
4. Contraindications when using Alanboss XL 10mg
Do not use Alanboss XL 10mg prolonged-release tablet in the following cases:
- Allergy to alfuzosin and/or any of the ingredients of the medicine
- Orthostatic hypotension (dizziness often occurs when changing from lying to standing).
- Liver dysfunction (hepatic insufficiency).
- Severe renal impairment.
- Drug interactions with ritonavir.
5. Precautions when using Alanboss XL 10mg
* Warnings:
Some individuals are particularly sensitive to Alanboss XL 10mg, manifested by orthostatic hypotension when transitioning from lying to standing. This phenomenon may occur within hours after taking the medicine and is accompanied by the following symptoms: dizziness, fatigue, sweating.
If this occurs, patients should be kept in a lying position until these temporary symptoms completely disappear. Caution is advised, especially in elderly individuals and patients who have previously experienced hypotension when using alpha-blocker drugs.
Intraoperative floppy iris syndrome (IFIS):
If you are planning to undergo cataract surgery in the near future and if you have or are currently using Alanboss XL 10mg, inform your doctor before surgery. Alanboss XL 10mg may cause side effects and complications during surgery. However, if informed, depending on your treatment process, the doctor will have to be cautious during surgery.
Use with caution
Use alfuzosin with caution in patients with significantly low blood pressure after using other alpha-1 blockers.
For patients with coronary artery disease, alfuzosin should not be prescribed alone. Specific treatment for coronary artery disease should be continued. In cases of more severe or recurrent chest pain, alfuzosin should be discontinued.
Patients should be instructed to swallow the tablet whole.
Do not crush, chew, break, or crush into powder. These actions will cause inappropriate release and absorption of the drug, thus undesirable effects may occur earlier.
Known effects of excipients
The medicine contains hydrogenated castor oil: may cause gastrointestinal disorders (mild laxative effect, diarrhea).
6. Use of medication for pregnant women and breastfeeding women
Alanboss XL 10mg is not for use in women. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before using any medication.
7. Driving and operating machinery
Attention should be paid to individuals operating machinery or vehicles regarding the risk of orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure when transitioning from lying to standing, sometimes accompanied by dizziness), dizziness, fatigue, or visual disturbances, especially when starting treatment.
8. Adverse effects
Like all medicines, Alanboss XL 10mg prolonged-release tablets may have some side effects:
Common side effects include:
+ Dizziness, vertigo, discomfort, headache
+ Gastrointestinal disorders such as nausea, abdominal pain
+ Fatigue, weakness
Less common side effects:
+ Dizziness, drowsiness
+ Orthostatic hypotension when transitioning from lying to standing

+ Skin allergies such as rash or itching
+ Facial flushing, edema, chest pain
Rare side effects:
+ Chest pain in patients with a history of coronary artery disease
+ Eyelid edema, vessel dilation
Adverse effects with unknown frequency:
+ Liver cell damage, cholestatic hepatitis.
+ Prolonged penile erection.
